About David David Ettedgui is the Managing Partner of Kliger Ettedgui Légal Inc., of Montreal, Canada, and was recently elected President of the Bar of Montreal and its nearly 17,000 members. Kliger Ettedgui is known for its expertise in civil and commercial litigation, corporate and commercial law, and trusts and estates. Founded in 2021, Kliger Ettedgui is the successor to Kliger & Associates, founded in 1933, and D.E. Legal, founded in 2011. David advises clients in the areas of real estate, civil, employment and corporate law, and regularly pleads before various administrative tribunals, as well as the Court of Quebec, the Superior Court of Québec and the Québec Court of Appeal. As a mediator, David is frequently called upon to intervene in contentious proceedings to help parties reach an amicable settlement. As an arbitrator, David evaluates and renders decisions on disputes, based on applicable law and the evidence before him. His recent accession to the leadership of the Bar of Montreal is but another step in David’s impressive careerlong track record of advancing the interests of the legal community outside the courtroom. David is a past president and current board member of the Lord Reading Law Society. Founded in 1948, the Society plays an integral role in Montreal’s legal community by organizing gala dinners featuring prominent guest speakers, while advocating for the protection of human rights. David also serves as Chair of the Inquiry Committee of the Province of Québec’s Ministry of Education and Ministry of Higher Education. David reports to the relevant Quebec cabinet minister when, in his opinion, a teacher or professor has committed a fault in the performance of their duties. In addition, as a member of the Québec Bar’s Council of Sections, David makes recommendations to its Board of Directors regarding strategic planning and continuing legal education.
