Pilgrim Mediation Group, LLC - Bet-the-Company Litigation
Jonathan J. Lerner is a founding member of Pilgrim Mediation Group, LLC., formed more than a decade ago with Stephen M. Greenberg. Its members serve as arbitrators and mediators in “bet your company” litigations. As a Partner in the New York office of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom, LLP for more than 30 years, and Litigation Practice Leader, Mr. Lerner was involved in some of the most complex and significant cases in the country, including as lead trial counsel for plaintiffs and defendants in jury and bench trials and arbitrations. He was lead trial counsel in DaimlerChrysler’s victory over Kirk Kerkorian in his multibillion-dollar securities fraud case the National Law Journal featured as the Top Defense Win in 2005. He received both the New York State Bar Association Professional Ethics Award (2003) and Pro Bono Award (2020).
Mr. Lerner frequently serves as panel chair or party-appointed neutral in complex arbitrations and was special master for federal judges in two extremely large securities class actions and a patent antitrust class action. He views arbitration as a “service profession” and believes parties paying to arbitrate disputes deserve more courtesy, attention, and transparency than they could obtain from any federal or state court.
